hi
my partner has some vodafone shares and she is going to sell them to contribute to the deposit for our new home to be part of it as i have most of the funds.
is it better to transfer them to online shares and then i sell them with my x-o account online and pay just £6 for selling them?
are there any cheap 'walk in' places on the high street that won't charge the earth to sell?

£6 for a trade seems pretty good to me.
I don't know of anywhere in the UK that offers such a service; far too much risk on an individual company IMO.💙💛 💔0 -
I'd de-materialise them (transfer to electronic shares), it is probably the cheapest way but not necessarily the quickest, as I don't think you can sell until they have been changed into electronic shares. Ask for a timescale before you commit, especially if it could delay your house purchase. And good luck!0

Xo is the cheapest. You just have to send in paper shares as registered post for safety to have them transferred to crest first.0

Are you married? If not, your partner will need her own x-o account. Even if you are married, her opening a (free) x-o account is probably neater than selling the shares via your account.
However, x-o do open accounts very quickly..

I was bought some BT shares by a relative as a child and am looking to offload them now. I already have an equiniti account so thought I'd just transfer them into electronic shares before selling them. Does anybody have any idea how long this process should take?0
