Reclaiming PPI outside 6 months.

Options
Hi, around 2 years ago I applied to my mortgage provider (Halifax) and CC (RBS) to reclaim the PPI I felt I was mis-sold.

Despite me feeling I had a valid case (I was a student, with full sick pay and not fully made aware of the policy upon taking the products out) both my applications were declined.

For whatever stupid reason at the time I did not appeal these with the FOS, my question is am I still able to pursue this in anyway? I realise they have a 6 month time limit after the rejection which I have missed by around 12 months, but what are the chances Halifax and RBS would let them investigate? Can I start the claims again from scratch and hope for a different outcome, or get the same outcome and then appeal after the new rejection?

I realise my lack of action may have cost me a decent chunk of change and if there's nothing I can do about it as much as it sucks I'll accept it, just wanted to get some expert input on the matter.

    Of course not.

Only if you have compelling reasons for not referring your complaint, (a family bereavement, for example) will FOS consider your complaint.

Regardless, most Mortgage PPI complaints are rejected anyhow.

A student with full sick pay?
Are you sure or have you just worded it awkwardly?

You can complain only once, any attempt to complain again will just result in a terse letter from the banks concerned reiterating your original rejection.
It is the Ombudsman which has a six-month time limit on referrals and you are well past that limit.
