Amex 'Anniversary Month'

I'm considering applying for the Amex Platinum Cashback card. I was wondering if anyone can tell me exactly what they mean by "2.5% cashback in the first month of every year if you spend more than £10,001 in your previous 12 months of Cardmembership."

So if I took out the card on 15th July, would my anniversary month be 1st July - 31st July, or would it be 15th July - 14th August, or something else?

As I purchase an annual season train ticket every year it would be very useful to know exactly when this period falls.

Many thanks if you can help.

    Your 13th statement, I believe.

sounds right to me. this is the best spending card around, imo.

That's provided you hit the minimum spend - people do need to be aware though that if you don't meet the minimum cashback amount of £25 in the year it all gets wiped on the anniversary date.

According to my latest statement any cash back is paid in the 'month following your card anniversary date' so i imagine that that is the key date. If you are going to take it to the wire I'd say you need toconfirm with Amex exactly when that date will be.

Thanks all for your responses, so that sounds like 15th July - 14th August in this example, ie. all the transactions that appear on the 13th statement.

I will of course confirm with them before making any big purchases!

fair point p00hsticks. it is a card for those that are going to spend a decent amount on it, and get the cashback for doing so. on that basis, it really is great.
