My husband's friend mentioned the SOGA but figured this is not a situation this would apply to - might solved my problem though
I will probably contact finance company the morning & find out a settlement figure & what options are, assuming I can not just leave car at garage & say no inks I don't want it
Feel stupid & cross after researching that I am in a pcp agreement & it's not explained at all "/ Thanks for the advice.0 -

Why would you call them inks?
If you got a heft discount off the £36,000 (and i'm hoping you did), plus your £10K deposit, you might have a chance of getting "out" in terms of not owing more than its worth, but thats a serious bath to be taking in a year?
No reason why you cant approach the dealer and see what they would value the car at to buy it back, but the "cheapest" solution would be to keep it until you've hit 50% of the total agreement amount paid back to the finance company - once you have paid 50% of the total transaction amount of the finance agreement, you can hand the car back with nothing further to pay (subject to it being in good condition).0 -
"Inks" stupid autocorrect - no "thanks"
The 50% way through then cancelling is that a voluntary termination? If really like to get out of it sooner (will be applying for new mortgage shortly, which didn't have planned last year, change of circumstance!) but at this rate it may still be sitting in AC dealership awaiting parts!! - only plus side is am not putting miles on my car just now, downside we can not go away as family next week to visit family as hire car just isn't big enough despite the 7 seats!!0 -

Yes, it would be VT.
I guess check out what your dealer would buy the car back for as a starting point.0 -
A webuyanycar type valuation will give you an idea how far out of pocket you might be, once you have your settlement figure from BH?0

I doubt the SOGA will do much for a faulty blind spot sensor.
Thr biggest issue here is why are the garage taking so long to fix it?
I don't know how the system works on the Voyager. Does it just show a small warning sign on the corner of the mirror glass?
What is the actual fault?0 -
Voyager is a lonely thing to own when it comes to selling.
They are not hugely popular as they are firmly old school.
I am fairly certain they still only have a 5speed auto mated to the rather dated 2.8 VM lump.
Used to be popular with Chauffeurs doing airport transfers but due to running costs and reliability most have gone over to Caravelle or Vianos.
As far as the pet issue goes i would ask them to put the car back together and use it.
You could ask the garage to disconnect the blind spot system as you can drive without it, i assume it was an option?
You are going to take a bath on this selling to a dealer.
Best case scenario is doing as has already been said.
Talk to the finance or read the agreement you signed.
If this is an affordability issue and a bit of buyer regret then say so.
Plenty of people have bought a high value car new and regretted it a year or so down the line.
Making a big fuss about the blind spot sensor would probably just annoy those involved.
You want the finance company onside.
And don't withhold payments.
You are not paying for a car you don't have.
You are driving a free hire car.
Which will likely be costing five or six times as much as your monthly payment.
If you are finding the payments a stretch then say so.
Finance companies are flexible.
Though with a 10k deposit you need to realise you may walk away with nothing.
You could always protect the boot area of the loaner and take your dog bit be prepared to have to valet the vehicle before you return it.
As i said i would have asked for them to put the car back together and ignore the faulty sensor.
Only had them once on a courtesy car and i always spotted the vehicle or bike long before it entered my blindspot so i think they are a little pointless. But handy insurance if you are driving a large vehicle.
The Voyager is slab sided so you should be able to manage.0 -
Thanks for the replys. Have decided to stick with it for another year & see how life plays out then see what options are.
With regards to blind spot sensor, it is useful on motorways, but daily nothing but pita! It was disabled but the whole dash would light up & wipers went off etc..I am understanding from garage it was rather more serious & a fault with the module within the cars whole system & since it has a lot of electronic gadgets (crap) in it then the car is in pieces while they fix it. Taking so long is due to parts on back order - again, assumption on my part is they either have to make or coming from America or both!!
Having spoken to CAS we are within our rights to complain to finance company as we are not getting what we are paying for. I also spoke with complaints department at finance company who happy to take the complaint & investigate, but need to tell them what I want from the complaint & have to actually specify - repair, replace or reject. CAS say the think the replace or reject is not much point & would be rejected & is already in for repair, I could expect some compensation for having to deal with it & having to cancel a family trip away - not out of pocket as we were staying with family, just the upset of not seeing family this holidays, doubt that is refundableif car needed valeting we could claim back expense. I have protected back when desperately had to take dog to vet yesterday, fine but issue is not actually being able to fit whole family plus dog in car (a Great Dane is not a small dog!) Unsure if is actually worth complaining as I don't know where it would get us tbh!

Forgot to update-
We complained to finance company about length of time & inconvenience & the ended up paying us £500 compensation as car took over 6 weeks to repair & that's only after making a fuss, as I was actually told it was going to be another 3 wks before I got "stroppy". We eventually decided to get rid of the car due to a few reasons & successfully sold it through we buy any car, paying off the finance & putting some extra money in my pocket!! Thanks to everyone for their advice 0
