Kids and festivals?

Watching Glastonbury on the telly and seeing the kids there too is making me tempted to go to a festival :D
It'll probably next year and it'll only be us 2 unless I fall madly in love before then lol or of course dd could take a friend but that only adds to the cost :/
Glastonbury although is an experience I think is probably too big for us, I went to the Phoenix festival years back, I think it changed to global gathering later on, it's local but not sure if it's really kid friendly,
Dd is 11 almost 12 so growing up but still young (and little lol) is there any festivals that would be suitable for her age and has anyone been with kids?
I think it'd be a great experience and something different, only if she wants to go of course, I'm hoping I might just squeeze it in before I become too embarrassing for her :rotfl:
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly :D

I'd love to go too with my 14 year old daughter but i'm not sure i could cope with that amount of mud. She'd love it too. The nearest we've got is glamping with Featherdown Farms, but a flushing toilet, wood burning stove and proper beds with duvets isn't really comparable is it ? It was still a tent though. :D

We went to East Coast Live yesterday, it's a 2 dayer with a small campsite, but we only went for the one day. I went with my daughter age 12, her bestie and her besties mum, we had a great day.

It was very family friendly, lots of children, lots of security, lots of first aider and, most importantly, lots of toilets!

They do three, east coast, south west and north east. Not a full on festival but IMO great as a 'starter'

I would definitely look around, for local and kid-friendly festivals. A lot cheaper & less stressful than doing the "big" ones.

We've taken the kids to Guilfest a couple of times, we're definitely too embarrassing now and DS is going to Reading with his mates instead this year :)

  • We went to Glastonbury in 1992! It shocked me that 180,000 people go now. That alone put me off but even back then they had loads for kids to do.

We were looking at the y not festival as it's only about an hour away. Little one has just turned 4 but we've decided against it this year as he gets up really early and can be a whinge bag :) thing is I think he'd really enjoy it...hmm now I'm reconsidering :)

Everyone should do Glastonbury once.... My first was when i was 21..Next year i will be going with my 16 years old...
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

It was a long time ago when I went to Glastonbury but I remember lots of children being there, we actually camped in the family camping area because it was a bit quieter and away from the main paths and people tripping over tents in the dark. There's (or used to be) a lot to do at Glastonbury in addition to the music.

You could get a day ticket for a festival perhaps, then if it's a bit much for DD you don't have a whole weekend to get through. My first time at Reading with my friend, we had weekend tickets but weren't allowed to camp, her parents picked us up each evening (live nearby)

My DD has been to Y Not Festival in Derbyshire with my granddaughter and said it's very family friendly. There's some good bands on, it's in the school holidays and not too far from Redditch.
