Thanx again...got a copy of the claim here and I quote:

The sale would have taken place at the Avco Trust offices at 94 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 2EN. There was no information provided to myself about the advantages of the insurance that Avco had added to the loan agreement other than it was a necessary part to ensure repayments were covered for Avco. I did say that as a civil servant for almost 6 years and having a salary ‘perk’ that covered sickness for a period of 12 months that was such a policy required only to be informed that it would ensure a successful application.

    and why was I unhappy:

Since I was a Civil Servant with the Scottish Government I would have received sick pay during the first 12 months cover anyway so there was no need for me to have such insurance from the back. If I had been made redundant (which back then didn’t happen too often in the Civil Service) then I would have received a redundancy payout as well.

I was not given the option of not adding the insurance to the application as when I questioned this I was told that it was merely part of the application process and had to be taken out to ensure coverage for Avco Trust.

Not sure if it would have been successful but there was a few matters that I wasn't happy with...very young and too naive at the time lol

Having twelve months sick pay is a good reason, being "young and naive" isn't.

Probably time to move on from this one...

Unless you are under 18 - in which case the entire loan would be unenforcible.

As far as I am aware, too, Avco Trust was not a member of an Ombudsman Scheme that FOS would have jurisdiction over.
