Hastings Direct Car insurance validation checks

Hastings Direct have asked me to validate my details, copies of driving licence and counterpart which i dont have a problem with, not got any points so its clean.

But they also want copies of the V5 to check i bought the car when i said i did? Seriously what difference does that make to the insurance premium?

Can i refuse to send the V5, nothing to hide there either but just dont understand why they need it. Oh and if i dont comply they will add additional charges.

Just comply. You will have agreed to anyway when you accepted their ts + cs.

The info on how long you owned the car is material ( otherwise why would they ask the question?)

Sometimes changing cars can be seen as a higher risk. You may not be used to that vehicle.
