Credit File General Questions

I am in the middle of applying for a new property to rent and fully expect the landlord to run a credit check prior to giving me the property. The rent is within my budget but I ran in to some debt problems around 6 months ago and have checked my credit file to see the details of these. Im trying to make my credit report appear a little better before applying.
I entered into arrangements to pay (with interest frozen) with both Natwest and American Express. On my credit file these accounts are showing as 2 months behind (for the last 4 months) and 4 months behind (1, 2, 3, then 4 over the last 4 months) respectively (even though it also shows AR - Arrangement to pay). I have been keeping up with the proposed schedule that was agreed between myself and the respective creditors.
Can I have it altered by Natwest/AE respectively, as I feel its a little unfair that actually paying off my credit has left me in a position where it appears that I am just not making any payments?
I also defaulted on a small university loan but have since made payments towards this as part of a payment plan. The account reads as defaulted even though Im in an arrangement to pay. Can I have this changed?
If I do have a right to have these amended, what kind of time period should it take the creditors to do this?

none of those show on a rental credit check anyway so they will never see them first nor last0

Just to second nottoolate, landlords can only see public information such as CCJ's, Bankruptcy etc.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0
