It's possible they have agreed a more reasonable settlement figure on condition the OP removes content that is critical of them. As much as I want to say the principle would make me decline such an offer, I think 8k would be enough to make me accept.

The irony is ... most people would have forgotten all about this thread (albeit would appear in searches). Asking the question has simply increased the popularity of this thread (and the likelihood of it appearing in searches).
