Secret Squirrel?

Are you a money saving secret squirrel? Does your OH know ALL about the money you have or do you have a secret stash "just in case?"

i've ALWAYS kept a secret stash for more years than i can remember!! Mainly cos my ex OH used to want to spend every spare penny we had in the pub, and he didn't think it was important to save for ''emergencies'' ie) new school uniforms, broken washer, paying unexpected large bills etc

even tho we've split up now, i still keep some money hidden that only i know about....old habits die hard!!

I'm more a forgetful squirrel, my secret stash tends to be money I've left in jacket pockets after nights out (don't like taking a ppurse out at night), then put the jacket away and forget about the note thats in a pocket, so there's usually £10 or £20 somewher in one of my coat

Yes. Either a £10 or £20 note in that little pocket in the wallet behind the credit & debit cards.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

When I was with my ex husband - we had joint savings. It was on my instigation but he respected that's what I wanted.

When I was with ex partner (who was basically just out for whatever he could get out of me, financially, materially, emotionally etc.), I saved hard so when I needed a new car (that he had use of as he didn't have one of his own!), I bought it cash but told him I re-mortgaged the house otherwise he would have demanded a refund on the pittance keep he gave me and the fact he paid for the occassional meal out. It made him feel good to think I had nothing, but actually i had nearly £4k in the bank. :rotfl:

Eventually I found the strength to kick him out.

In my family the secret stash was known as 'running away money' !

I haven't got a secret stash I'm afraid but my mum squirreled thousands of pounds of her salary away from my dad!

She did it because she always dreamt about owning a static caravan by the sea so she saved for years, then one day told him what she had done and what she was spending it on.

Dad wasn't too keen at first, but now they are the pround owners of a wonderful static caraven.

lol I'd have to be nothign short of a magician to squirrel money without DH noticing...he's a keen MSE'r and he watches where everything goes!

Anyway, if I did have a secret stash then he'd read about me announcing it on here. So i haven't got one;)

My OH hasn't got a clue what money we have unless he wants a new bike. He has a cycling fund He has £100 a month and puts his ebay money in it, it was also supposed to pay for a new back door but he spent it and I've now got to find the cash! Am seriously considering a secret stash, the idea of running away money sounds good too.

My oh is in accountancy I would'nt dream of keeping any of my financial activities secret from her, I trust her implicitly and rely on her ability to do more with it than I am able.
