I'm looking to get travel ins for self and partner, however looking in the guides here I'm in 36-45 yr bracket and partner in 52-65 yr bracket, does this affect what sort of policy I can get/mean we need separate insurance?

It shouldn't affect the cover.
See if it's cheaper to buy 2 policies than a joint one (in case the joint one is priced on the eldest applicant)0
