Hello, got a question regarding a spelling mistake on electoral role

Options
Hi everyone,

just got a quick question regarding why I get refused for credit.

~Basically I moved into different rented accom. in December, and received a visit from the electoral role people to confirm who it was living at my address. Well they put me down with a N at the start of my surname and not a W. So it has completely changed my name/

My question to you good people is would this small mistake be costing me big time in my ability to get credit? Do companies check against the ER when you apply for credit...

I'd get it changed for accuracy reasons alone. If you have any credit searches then they also likely would not pick you up as being on the Electoral roll due to the different name (even though one letter different). Advise the relevant people and then keep an eye on your credit files to see what they record on there.

By the way, it's electoral ROLL. Spelling mistakes happen everywhere.

Very unusual to be visited by " Electoral roll people" Are you sure of that?

Quite amusing when the thread is about a spelling error on the electoral roll ;)
  • Thanks for that Bryan, predictive text and small screens can be a nightmare, do you have anything to add or did you just want to come over a little queer

Where is one, I'll try to come over.

Are you sure it was "Electoral roll People" that visited you? If so I think that's a first.

Electoral roll people often visit my apartment building and try to force people to fill out the forms. Apparently they get paid for each person who joined the roll.

So if they manage to get 10 or more people to sign up in the space of an hour, are they on a roll?

Re electoral roll visits - same in my area, they show up periodically to help with / encourage accurate registration. Not sure why, perhaps just electoral good practice?
