Hair cut at college? Do you tip?

For the first time I'm going to have my hair cut at a college next week. No idea what to expect apart from the fact that apparently they take longer so I have taken the morning off work! Apparently a wash, cut and blow dry is called cut and finish, so that's what I'm having.
At my regular salon, I didn't tip every time I went but always left a good amount (more than the sum of the tips I would've spent!) just before Christmas to put towards drinks at their Christmas do. But do you tip students at a college and if so, how much?
And anything else I need to know about going to the college? I hate having my hair cut so feel I need to psych myself up a bit and know the etiquette.
Thanks
Liz

No I've never tipped at my college. Take something to read etc as it does take longer0

I've had my hair cut at college, the student who did it did such a great job (and she listened to me, discussed with me what I wanted etc, far better than most hair salon stylists I've been to over the years) that I asked at reception when I was paying if I could leave her a tip. They said yes, so I popped back into the salon and gave her her tip.0

Thanks, how much did you tip?0

They don't expect it but I usually leave £2.0

yes, i left £2 as a tip.0

Yes I do. As they dont get any of the money you pay for the haircut, it goes to the college. I give £2 as well.0

No, I've not thought about it. I've had my hair cut at college for the last 5 years, it's only £3 a time.0

if you like and enjoyed the haircut and can afford to, why not tip.0

I tip only when I got exact desired haircut.0

Haircut at the college here cost me £5 . They've been good so I've been giving the trainee stylist £5 . Did take longer but still , £10 is a bargain . If you want to leave a tip I'm sure it'd be appreciated .0
