Bearing in mind the OP has said

"Having tried the dress on twice"

    then followed it up with

"the point is though that she never wore it"

    there are clearly trust issues
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Istnt trying it on 'wearing it' I know not for any length of time but the make up could have got on it whilst trying it on.

Trying it on after a shower, I would normally get out of the shower and put moisturising cream on, so the faint odour could have come from this....

Im sure the OP is as honest as the day is long but may not have thought about what Ive said above.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Hardly, I think it's obvious to anybody with a brain cell or two that op means the dress was only worn for the purposes of trying it on and nothing untoward like going out in etc etc
  • Hey guys.. don't worry too much !! I understand the points you were raising.. like McNeff said, she might have had some perfume on which transferred to the dress, although as far as i was concerned it was perfect.. and the make up could have been on there.. she doesn't wear alot so I don't know what they were referring to as she never wears lipstick/heavy foundation which is the type of make up that transfers to clothes when trying them on .. countless changing rooms are privy that happening !! anyway, thank you for all your responses, i have heard any more yet so fingers crossed they will email me soon with an offer. Just goes to show though, if she'd have tried it on in Debenhams we'd have just been able to hang it back up and walk away.. makes me think twice about ordering stuff like this again!

Good to see the collective idiots are out in force, making the assumption that anyone who posts on here is a liar.

Some people must lead very depressing lives if their automatic assumption is that on-one anywhere can be trusted.

Just had a quick glance at the posts and i can't find anyone that accuses the op of being a liar....maybe you had an even quicker glance than me and misread!

When was the prom (date) and when was the dress returned? In this case if there is a problem with the returned dressed, then they're within their right to refuse the refund. You could make a complain to trading standards, they might have had more reports with similar returns problems from other customers.

was she wearing make up? did she cover her face with a scarf when putting the dress on? Sounds like the make up is the issue not the smell.

DSRs are there to give you the equivalent rights of what you would have in store. People can spend hour's in dressing rooms trying on clothes (/having a natter), granted that's usually before the clothes have been purchased.

Do you have any social media pics of the dress she was wearing on prom night, if they are thinking you are trying to pull a fast one that might help persuade them otherwise.
