Very old Debenham shares

I received a letter yesterday from Prosearch, about some Debenhams shares I had for years, but had forgotten about. Because I'm a natural cynic, and having read the thread about this company, I've already resolved to ignore the letter....
However...as the sum involved is enough to redo the decking, I think I ought to try and recover the money...
So...how do I go about this? Who do I talk/write to?
All sensible suggestions gratefully received...

Looking at the Debenhams website, their registrars are:
Equiniti Ltd.
Aspect House
Spencer Road
Lancing
West Sussex
BN99 6DA
Tel: 0871 3842766
Why don't you try and contact them directly?
Once they have confirmed that you still hold shares, people usually recommend www.x-o.co.uk as the cheapest place to transfer individual shares and sell, but I have not used them personally.0 -
I have had one too, i think its genuine. I worked there a few years ago. Not sure how 12.5% fee stands up against others or even if there is another way to claim the money. To be fair mine is only just over £100 so for the hassle in trying to find out its probably not worth it but if you are owed more then it might be worth digging around.0

If you really held shares in Debenhams you would have received dividends twice a year - in January and July.Born to shop;)0

Quick update-
With DRP's advice in mind- I phoned Equiniti directly (using a number I found on the 'saynoto0870' website)...
And....yep....I have the proceeds of a share sale, and unclaimed dividends owing to me. Best of all, Equiniti only charge a fee in respect of the dividend, not corporate actions i.e. the sale of shares.:j
I have to say the Equiniti guy was really helpful...
....So on to the letter writing stage, then...:cool:0 -
I have recently received a letter from a company called Prosearch regarding unclaimed entitlements that belonged to my grandfather. Prosearch have asked to confirm that my grandfather lived at an address that have stated on their letter, and have also asked who was responsible for the estate. my grandfather passed away in 1989 and I have no idea who was responsible for the estate. Where do I stand on this as I am the only member of the family that is still alive.
Thanks in advance0 -

I'm assuming they may have turned up some old investments or shares that may have been missed and they are looking for some confirmation.0
