insurance misold for illness, unemployment

When I used a mortgage broker, they went through a insurance document with me saying that they had to do this for me to get the mortgage however they would not put the document through. They did and I ended up paying fo ryears before I called and cancelled the insurance. I had tried to cancel previously but the staff member kept asking what I would do if I became ill or unemployed and I felt pressured to agree to carryon paying. Can I still reclaim, and if so how do I do this as it was not arranged through a bank?

You have to complain to the broker, but it's perfectly possible that the PPI was indeed a condition of the mortgage at the rate offered to you. Your complaint is very weak even if the insurance was not compulsory and, if your mortgage PPI was taken out prior to January 2005, then the broker won't even have to consider any complaint as it is pre-regulation.
Anything which happened once the insurance was purchased is not mis-selling-the staff member merely persuaded you not to cancel. You cannot complain about that.0
