Lloyds default for £30!

I gave just checked my Noddle account to ensure my file had been updated to show an old account as settled to discover Lloyds has defaulted an account that was £30 overdrawn with no default notice.

During this time I went into the branch several times over, claimed back missold packaged a font and was overpaying my loan to clear my credit accounts with them and yet this was never mentioned to me.

I am so angry I could cry, there was more than enough money in other accounts to clear this, if I had known I would have cleared it instantly and I don't understand how it was allowed to go overdrawn when there was no facility on it to do so.

I was less than a year away from repairing everything, just moved house and now potentially my file is ruined for another six years:(

Any advice or help please?
Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

  • I think the best thing you could do is try and appeal to Lloyds' better interests. Don't go in all guns blazing, just phone up and ask nicely. Explain that you're confused why they would let you go overdrawn when you clearly had money in other accounts with them etc.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

Banks statements would have been issued.

I banked on line and when they changed the App back to Lloyds I was unable to log in as it remembered my account, I have asked twice to have my PIN number reissued in branch and this hasn't been actined. I was in the process of moving house and redirected my mail etc so did everything I could (and changed the address as soon as I had a firm address)

I will try that I am worried about the effect it will have on my husbands career (clearances) especially as I did everything I could overpaid my loan, had more than enough money to clear this and did as soon as I was aware.

I shall try writing to them :(

Try asking nicely, then if no joy, try a written complaint including points about not being able to check your online banking and not receiving PINs requested and that no one mentioned it to you.

Unlikely to affect his clearances for a default happening like this as long as he declares it when requested.

    Thank you.

Would you try writing or ringing in the first instance?

You could try ringing for the nice approach.

Any complaint should be in writing with at least proof of posting.

This isn't a default, simply a statement of fact for that month - it will show as cleared the following month (assuming you did). As these bits of info are automated, if you had a debit o/d of £5 it would show in the same way, so I'd not treat it as the end of the world - the CRAs must be delighted that they've terrorised another consumer - for nothing.

Stuff happens, and will continue to do so. Just do your best, and the report will reflect this.

not true if a default as it sounds as they stay for 6 years.

if just late payments they show for at least 3 years now as well.

It's definitely showing as a default on my credit file and now satisfied as I cleared it as soon as I became aware of it.

In fact the default and satisfied marker were only put on after I cleared it. I had worked so hard to clear my credit file and next year it would have been perfect. It's the fact that having cleared over £25k on time with no missed payments not nothing that they default me over £30 when there was over £300 in other accounts with them.

You might want to send them a subject access request along with a tenner.

In addition to anything else you do.

See what they have regarding the account.
