How do I get the index.dat file on Windows Vista Basic. I am trying to recover my Firefox History from February.

I'm not sure, but from skimming through this page, it looks like index.dat is used by Internet Explorer, while Firefox uses history.dat at this location:
\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random text>\history.dat

Yep, index.dat is only used by Internet Explorer.poppy100
