Does it end up costing you to have solar panels

We are considering solar panels but from what I am reading if you get a loan the money you get back doesn't cover the loan

You really need to go to the Green and Ethical section where there are thousands of posts on Solar PV and some real experts contribute.

There are 3 major factors to consider if you are fitting solar PV.

    1. The cost of the installation.

    2. The interest rate on any loan.

    3. The output of the panels, and hence income from FIT/export payments and amount of electricity you can use in house.

There have been reports that some of the 'package deals' of an installation and loan are frankly a rip-off. Overpriced installation and very high interest rates.

As said above you will get up to date information in the Green and Ethical section of MSE.
