Buyer taking too long?

If I were wasting someone's time, I wouldn't part with cash for the searches, so I definitely take that as a good sign!
We had issues getting an appointment back in April - think for Nationwide the first available appointment was at the beginning of June, and that was with us willing to travel to other towns/cities in the area! So 10th July doesn't seem at all bad!
Also, if they're taking time off to get to that appointment, I'd definitely take that as a good sign.
It might be worth thinking about the timing in relation to when you found the place you're buying, as I understand people often put off some stages until the chain is complete, so they don't risk spending money on surveys, valuations, solicitors' disbursements and so on, only for the chain to take months to complete and then collapse.
Good luck with it - does sound like your buyer takes a while to make their decision and then acts with much more commitment and energy once they have! I have friends who are house hunting and really stressing about picking The Right mortgage and they're taking ages looking at everything ... They haven't even really started viewing houses yet! There's a lot of pressure on FTBs to not make an expensive mistake in their first huge purchase I think, so maybe that's what you're seeing with your buyer.
