Ntl What Happened To The Free After 6 Calls And Weekend

I have NTL 321 phone and the basic tv does anyone know what I should be paying for line rental and calls for a start because somehow things have got changed without me knowing... I have never changed my package. When I joined NTL when they very first came to our street years ago it was so much during the day and free calls every night after 6pm and free calls all weekend. Then I was informed there was going to be a 5p connection charge but free thereafter but somehow along the way its got changed to 321 it must have been like that for a long time, I think it must have changed when they stopped doing itemized bills so I didn't actually notice but I kept wondering why even though I waited till after 6pm to ring out my bills would be much more than expected on a supposedly free after 6 line.
Has this happened to anyone else? coz when I started with NTL I was told the free nightime and weekend calls would never change and always be free but then they got round it a bit by putting on the connection charge but I have not chosen to change any arrangment at any time so how its gone to the 321 I don't know

Without TV, NTL's 321 line rental is £9.50 per month at the moment and calls are charged:
As BT abolished the differentiation between local and national calls on 1/7/04, the first part of that is pure spin (and the 3p/minute is identical to BT anyway).FREE evening and weekend Talktime to other local ntl Telephone customers.
National calls at local rates - that's 3p a minute weekdays, 2p a minute evenings and 1p a minute weekends.
A 5p (4.9p in some areas) connection fee applies.
The 2p/minute evenings and 1p/minute weekends charges can be vastly more expensive than BT (which charges 5.5p for up to an hour at those times to any UK 01 or 02 number).
NTL are changing their prices on 1/6/05 (e.g. line rental goes up to £10.50) so you should receive a leaflet detailing everything with your next bill.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Oh I see thanx, I had forgotten about it being to local calls only... So am I still on the free after 6pm calls and free weekend calls for local ones then? Is it just if I call a national number I get charged the 2p a min nightime 3p daytime and 1p at weekends? You're right it does add up if you make many national calls, worth remembering
I am charged £19.50 per month at the moment is that right for the basic tv and phoneline. It will prob go up to £20.50 then soonThanx

Yes, the £1 increase in the phone line rental will take your TV Family Pack (includes telephone line rental) up to £20.50 from 1/6/05.
You'd save on the cost of your telephone calls (except those to other local NTL customers) by using call1899.co.uk (3p connection and 0p per minute to call any UK 01 or 02 number at any time).Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").

Hi,
I just looked at that site and I'm a bit confused as to if I'm paying right or not as I'm on base pack not family pack. It says that line rental is included for tv customers so should I be paying the £9.50 or the £19.50 I've been paying... Hope I don't sound too stupid but they don't actually state it that clearly to me...
Hi just added this as I hacve just worked it out
silly me but thanx for the 1899 thingy thats worth looking into thankyou
Thanx

Just got my first 1899 invoice ... £2.06. Exlcuding NTL line-rental of £9.50 per month, our average spend on calls was around £23 per month.
Thats a whopping 91% saving in the first month.
This may also be due to my wife knowing I can see every number dialled
Very happy

With NTL now offering "free" weekend calls with the £10.50 a month line rental, does this mean that they won't be charging the 5p connection fee ?0

Take a look at NTL's new price list(its a PDF) . These prices will be charged from the 1st June 2005. Halfway down the first page there is a small section that states:
"All calls are subject to a 5p call connection charge except calls within the inclusive Talk Unlimited Tariffs, local weekend calls on 3-2-1 standard (which have no connection charge)".
I took a good look at these prices, leading me to go with 1899
What this means for me though, is that its actually cheaper to use NTL for local calls than it is to use 1899. You can't get cheaper than free :rotfl:
Hope this helps

You missed the word local in there jonathang - as far as I can see, the £1 increase from 1/6/05 means:jonathang wrote:With NTL now offering "free" weekend calls with the £10.50 a month line rental, does this mean that they won't be charging the 5p connection fee ?
FREE evening and weekend calls to other local ntl telephone customers.

Swings and roundabouts, with a heavy leaning towards the swings I'd say.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").

I quite often give thanks that I live in a village with no cable access (even if it meant broadband only reached us 6 months ago).jonathang wrote:Thanks for the replies - think I'll switch to BT anywayTheir - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
