Time for credit file error to be corrected?

Hi
My OH found she had a missed payment entry on her Experian credit file.
Background: She had a car hire purchase, which ended in March. She swapped car for another at the same dealer and balance was supposedly written off. It wasn't - so has now been recorded as a missed/late payment, and the balance is still showing on her file.
The dealer + finance company have admitted responsibility and have provided letters to that effect.
They have also contacted Experian to get the error amended.
My question is - how long should it typically take to get an error like this corrected?
Thanks

Typically it could easily take a month if they just wait for the next monthly update.
It is possible for them to do a much quicker update, although this isn't so common. If you need it correctly urgently (e.g. for a mortgage application or similar) then make sure that the lender who recorded the negative are aware of that and ask for them to sort it out asap.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
