Students savings - what is most prudent?

Hi all,

By good fortune with part-time jobs and a low rent, I've been able to save up some money whilst being a university student.

To make sure I don't spend it unnecessarily and for budgeting reasons, I'd like to move some of it out of my current account into some kind of saving account. The sum is likely to be a few thousand pounds. However, I'm unsure what approach is best regarding this? Would a simple savings account likely suffice, or should I invest in an ISA or even a trust fund?

My only two criteria are the money being safe and being accessible in case of emergency, so I understand that ISAs may not be ideal here if there is a limit to how much / how often I can withdraw money. Either way, I'd be hugely grateful for any advice :)

Thanks in advance!

If you are able to get current accounts such as TSB Plus, that would be your best choice. Cash ISAs and other savings account pay pitiful interest.
