Experian - not on electoral register?!

Hi

I applied for a new credit card today and was refused so I got my Experian Credit Score and it says that I am not on the electoral register. I definitely am and have had loans approved in the last few years at this same address so I am a bit confused!

Can anyone please tell me if this refusal will stay on my credit score? My credit score is over 600 and there is nothing else flagging up as an issue.

I've emailed experian but I don't know how long it'll take for them to reply..

TIA :)

The credit application search will stay on your credit report.

It is just a search, it does not say whether you were accepted or declined.

Hopefully experian will resolve the electoral roll issue fairly easily.

I had this problem too, it was due to a small discrepancy in the address. Eg if your house is know as the Pines 3 The street, Halifax (not my address) but you are registered as just 3 The Street Halifax it won't show up on Experian. I had a problem a while back at a previous address as the landlord had changed the name of the property and even though us tenants were on the electoral register, it appeared to Experian we were not.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Thanks Datlex, that might be the issue; my house does have a name and number and when I get the voting card thing from the council it does have the house name and not the number!

Did Experian sort this out for you?

You don't have a credit score. The number you are referring to is a random number that has no bearing on your ability to get credit.
