Parking eye county court date

Hi,

I am new to posting and new to county court action so PLEASE be gentle with me. I was one of the ones that ignored a parking eye ticket (I thought I was parking on a free car park) and then got a 2nd ticket when my disabled sister was taken poorly whilst shopping. I put in a brief defense (info gathered from various forums and blogs on the internet) I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips advice re going to court?
From the Notice of allocation I have from the county court it seems I could put my defense and witness statement in and not actually appear in court myself? is this correct? To be honest I got on my high horse and thought no way am i paying them £140 but now I have a court date I am scared to death. Any advice?

I appologise if this post is in the wrong place.

It is, yet you were so close. It should be in the parking sub-forum.

See this (sticky thread from the top of the parking tickets sub-forum) and read post #5 about small claims cases and how to defend:

    ONLY POST #5 IS APPLICABLE - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822

You are on the wrong forum board at the moment which is probably why you've found no tips about it here on the Motoring forum. But the parking board there are several cases like yours as Parking Eye are litigious when people don't appeal. You should have appealed. Post #5 of that link shows you case that have been won by posters (loads) and what to do and by when, and especially - where to find the 'Parking Prankster's Guide to Defending a PE small claim'.

PE send lawyers at a significant loss every time and they have won about half the cases that went to a hearing in the last tax year, many cases being very badly defended by people who didn't research the facts. Some others have been cancelled after complaints to retailers/landowners, or referred to POPLA instead (rare but worth asking the court once it's allocated locally to YOU).

Not all cases go to a hearing (none are just 'forgotten' though, so this won't go away without you making it happen). The best help you can get is there on that forum board and from the Prankster's Guide. COMPLAIN NOW if this was a retailer especially due to the disabled passenger. You really really should have appealed or complained earlier as this is hassle you don't need.

Do start a thread on the parking board if this one isn't moved for you.

Unfortunately you have to appear at the hearing.

Just to clarify that, what Coupon means is if you want to win, you have to appear at the hearings, legally you don't have to appear personally, but you will lose.
