Squeaky Floor Boards

I live in a studio flat and my upstairs neighbor has terribly squeaky floor boards. The council have been and tightened the boards (made absolutely no difference) but keep telling me they really do not have to do anything, yet they say they are going to try to tighten them again using a different company to do the repair and then they are going to lay a thick carpet. Much as I appreciate the gesture, laying a carpet on top of these boards is not going to stop the squeaking!!:j
Does anyone know where I stand with this? I dont want to be a nightmare but the noise is awful, it wakes me in the night and is driving me nuts!
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Maybe put some wd40 under the carpet. Or gaffer tape. One of them should do it0

To be fair, it does sound like they are trying to help... What do you want them to do?

I knew you'd take it the wrong way
I meant do you have any idea of what they can do to stop the squeaking? Maybe if you search for a solution and suggest it to them they could give it a try. 0 -
