Are washer dryers really any good?

I have had my Hoover Washer Dryer for 7 years, it has a 1500 spin and has never let me down. Clothes are sparkling white and don't take much drying when they come out. I would certainly have another one (hope mine doesn't break down now).0

Hi :hello:
I had a hotpoint washer dryer which was Fine - but I do think drying takes longer in a washer dryer - I have a hotpoint condenser dryer now which admittedly does get heavy useage but has stopped working (just under a year) so bit disappointed aobut that but when it does work it does dry alot quicker.:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j0 -
I had one in a flat, was a nightmare. Think it was a hotpoint ?aquarius? the engineer came out *very* frequently to fix it. We hated it, so very kindly 'included' it in the sale of the flat to a first time buyer!! :rolleyes:

Now happily live without a tumble dryer, but have one of those hanging airer things for the winter & dry stuff outside in the the Summer (except this Summer!!) 0 -
We bought a integrated one, it took forever to dry and as someone else said they get very hot, we actually only used the dryer part about four times be fore we bought a stand alone one, again as a earlier poster said, you can be washing and drying at the same time.0

I used to have a Hoover one due to space restrictions in my old house. Never again! It was forever breaking down and needing an engineer.
I found it didn't spin as well as a regular washer so clothes came out wetter and needing longer to dry.
You can't tumble dry a full load. You have to take half out and do it in two lots. As the clothes are wetter and the dryer is inefficient compared to a stand alone tumble drier, it will cost a lot more to run in the long term.
Is there anywhere else you could put a tumble drier? If I was moving into my old house again, I would have put a normal washer in the kitchen, and the tumble drier in the garage.Here I go again on my own....0 -
We have a Seimen's washer dryer and it is absolutely fantastic. It will dry a full load in about 30-40 minutes (including towels). Thankfully it came with our apartment, as there is NO WAY we could have afforded to go out and buy it after putting almost every penny in buying the place!!
From what people have said, you can get good washer dryers, but not good cheap, washer dryers...
If you need one as a space saver, then buy the best you can afford...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
No, they are rubbish. Dryer burns out if you put more than a few items in. My current one I only use to air things0

I had two in my last house. The first was a Hotpoint from currys and was useless. Anything that could go wrong did go wrong in the first year. It flooded twice, new motor, new door seal, new brushes, hot soggy washing. rubbish.
Changed it to a Candy which was a bit better but not fantastic. I moved out 3 years ago and my ex replaced it with another Candy and had problems with it almost from the off.
I've got a second hand washing machine which I bought when I moved and it has been fantastic. I've no room whatsoever for a tumble drier but I would love one as I hate seeing clothes on airers etc in the winter. I've been thinking about getting a washer dryer but am no having second thoughts again. Unless I can fine a very good one that has a good price reduction that is ;
