Centre Parcs V Forest Holidays (sherwood Forest)

Hi we are looking at a break at the end of march with a 7 year old and a four year old ,I was looking at centre parcs but I am now considering the forest holidays at Sherwood forest, price is similar but the accomadation looks better on the forest holidays with a hot tub and looks more private. any experience or advice?? thanks in advance

well i would say they are completely different ends of the spectrum and very different holidays....

Forest holidays at sherwood is a new development so all the lodges are new CP at sherwood is the oldest CP in the uk and some of the lodges are dated....

but the holiday is not just about the accommodation is it? What do you want from the holiday? busy activities, lots of places to eat out on site? or peace and quiet?

Forest holidays are quiet resorts - not much to do apart from bike around the forest and enjoy the countryside.... only a small canteen on site to eat at...

CP is a full on activity centre with free swimming pool and lots of other paid for activities, plus the option to bike around the busy resort...lots of chain restaurants to eat out in on site ....

I like both places but it depends what you want from the holiday.

I agree with artichoke, there is much more to the holiday than the accommodation and CP offers far more for your age range children. CP Sherwood has invested a great deal to upgrade most of the entry level villas so you can now get better spec.

Thanks, my worry with centre parcs is that I'm imagining a crowded pool and it been a bit commercial , lots of villas together and a lot of the activities I've looked at are unsuitable for my youngest.
So I thought would I be better with forest holidays hiring some bikes ,walks and going off site to go ape or the theme park trouble is ,its march, its England it will probably rain! ha

I think you have hit the nail on the head with your statement about it being March and England.

In view of that I would with children of the age you have say it's a no brainer ---- Centre Parcs.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.
