As a student you should be liable for legal aid. Speak to te CAB or a local solicitors to see if you are entitled to free representation.£4000 challenge

doll83, at the moment you have nothing legally to claim for.
Just wait until you get the landladies address. The LA has 21 days from the date of the letter to reply however give them an extra 5 days for second class post.
You should also send the same letter to the new LA by recorded delivery.
That way if you haven't paid 2 months rent and the LL starts eviction proceedings you can show why you didn't pay up and then pay the rent immediately. BTW if you do this you can't legally get evicted and won't have a CCJ.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

my national landlords body advises that a landlord/lady does not have to put their own home/personal address on an AST - many landlords use their accountants or solicitors addresses instead. (Sometimes LL wish to hide their home address with very good reasons - some tenants, such as drug addicts, etc can be very vindictive). This is perfectly legal. It is then up to the person at that address to make sure that the LL receives the letters sent their.0
