Successful Appeal - UKPC

Hi all,
I’ve not posted on here before, but having just received a letter from UK Parking Control Ltd cancelling a Parking Charge without having to go any further, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all those who provided such useful and concise information in the NEWBIES ‘sticky’ thread.
After receiving my NTK I was able to use the template letter to appeal to UKPC about the fake charge and they, after a couple of weeks of waiting, responded in writing yesterday to say that the charge had been cancelled.
As background the Parking Charge was issued at Centaurus Retail Park, Cribbs Causeway, Bristol on 10th April 2014 and the ‘offence’ was "vehicle owner/driver left site". I had shopped in a couple of the shops, Tesco & Costa, (receipts retained) and then walked (I know, strange concept that, what with it being a nice sunny day!), across the road to Halfords, then Toys ‘R’ Us where I made further purchases (again, receipts retained), before returning to my car approx 45 minutes after leaving it to find a windscreen ticket. After the initial rage, bearing in the mind the car park was less then half full, I went home, googled UKPC, found out a bit about them, then googled appealing parking charges, which is when I found the link to this forum.
I read through the steps to take in the NEWBIES thread, wrote to Tesco Store Manager & Costa to complain using the template letters, giving details and photocopies of the receipts and requesting that they got the charge cancelled. Unfortunately they were unable to do anything as they do not ‘employ’ UKPC, so I used the draft appeal letter and wrote to UKPC on 6th June 2014 appealing the charge, in which I included a photocopy of the Tesco receipt.
I was fully expecting a response telling me to get stuffed and had already drafted a POPLA letter, again using the useful templates provided, so was extremely surprised and delighted when I got a letter (dated 20th June 2014) saying it had been cancelled.
I’m sorry if I’ve annoyed anyone by starting a new thread on this, but I just wanted people to see it and see that there is another successful appeal for the good people who spend their time helping strangers on this forum overturn these nuisance fake parking charges.
Again, a massive thank you from me to you all.
Regards

Congratulations on your success
Great example to other Newbies on what's possible :T
So no apologies needed for posting - far from it - the forum is always glad to hear from someone who was successful in getting their charge cancelled by using the NEWBIES information as Coupon-mad and the other regular contributors intended.0 -
Don't forget their attendants are on a bonus scheme to trap as many victims as possible, and the old left site ploy is one of their attempts to boost their fake ticket count.
Maybe UKPC thought from your well researched appeal they might as well throw in the towel on this one.
Well done I love it when these idiots get their just deserts!:T0 -
Many thanks for posting your experience here, we love to read that it works and it's refreshing when posters just get on with it and win, having armed themselves with the tools provided in the NEWBIES thread.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for posting billywhiz, have just received ntk under exact same circumstances (parked in car park tesco side and visited tesco Kiddicare and toys r us but got the "left site" penalty. Was disappointed with lack of assistance from tesco and Kiddicare. Kiddicare even thought they were a separate site despite signage for centaurus retail park containing both stores, Kiddicare even have it on the address of their receipt! Your experience makes me hopeful UKPC will give up at the first hurdle.
Wish me luck! Let battle commence....0 -
You don't need luck - if you use the template first appeal from the NEWBIES thread, UKPC will very likely reply that they've cancelled the stupid fake PCN due to an 'admin error'!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I responded to UKPC's fine for parking outside empty unit on Clifton Way in Cambridge using template found on MSE. Fine cancelled due to "administrative" error. Possibly expecting the unwary to see A4 notes in plastic sleeves stuck on doors in the dark was pushing their luck.
Plenty of clear signs there now. Not many cars though. They are no doubt looking for another money making site. I believe land is owned by Cambridge University. They jointly must have made a huge profit very quickly form this site. Not from me though! Thanks MSE.0
