AV wiring and connections

Looking to create a audio and visual hub in a spare cupboard upstairs in my house and have the wires routed around as such. (Amp, Sky box, Sonos)

If I was to give get quotes on this, would I be after an electrician or a home AV specialist?

A specialist, a jobbing sparks wouldn't have a clue, they'd run the HDMI in the same trunking as the twin and earth.

Maybe a good HiFi shop locally does installs? People who buy posh HiFi stuff will often pay for installation (I'm not talking Richer Sounds here, I'm talking about the shops that sell Linn, Arcam etc).

Shouldn't be a problem as HDMI is digital :D

Exactly what I was thinking. I already laugh at the fools paying £100 for a super low oxygen copper HDMI cable with gold connectors.

....but the guy in the shop said I needed to spend at least £100 on my hdmi lead as nothing worked without it.

The trouble with HDMI is that it's digital.

If you run a really long VGA cable to a projector, with several joints and connectors in the cable, it will probably work, but with unsightly ghosting on the screen.

If you do the same with HDMI, it won't work at all. You may see a broken up picture on the screen, or nothing at all.

Long HDMI cables need good quality cable, properly terminated at the connectors. However, good quality and a ridiculous price in the shop are largely unrelated.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
