When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.:money:
Morning :undecided been up since 5.30 after being woken up by dgd at 3am  as she is poorly at the moment and was crying & crying _pale_
But it's Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!!! :j need to get going but thought I'd quickly post
Things for today:
* checked banking
* did vsp & updated sig - I love doing this on a Friday!
* packed up dgd's bag for child minder
* grabbed a portion of pasta bake out of the freezer for lunch
* email manager asking her to approve my expenses
* go to supermarket after work & get formula, bread & fruit
* Going to have to work from home this afternoon as friend can only babysit until 2
* check onepoll
* sanding tonight
* drink bottle of bubbly tonight given to me by my team as a leaving gift :A
* decide over BB package. Trying to decide whether to get the weekend free landline call package or not, is it worth an additional £50 per year???
* work super efficiently to finish off my work so I can leave as early as possible!
Ok think that's my lot for the day. Have a great day everyone x

Hooray!! It's PAYDAY here!! :j
Thanks again for the starter DNMS! Fresh start today to get the old finances looking a bit healthier - am going to have to keep a far tighter reign on things over the summer to avoid slipping back into old habits... That starts by posting on here regularly!!
So, here's my little list for today:
Payday banking - juggle money into various different accounts to maximise interest
Pay credit card in full - so far this is working brilliantly - I really don't know what I was worried about!
Pay left over cash from this month into savings
But Dad the hat he was fancying as a little pick-me-up... Despite virtually being promised, he's been rejected for voluntary redundancy and the nice little remuneration package that goes with it, so is a bit down at the moment... Daughter to the rescue
Complete list of jobs at home left by OH... For those on our Facebook, I'll post a photo of my new "goal list" later.......!! The joys of living with a teacher!
Look at the cheapest flights to anywhere for October half term - love doing this "E@syjet Roulette" -and book a magical mystery tour to somewhere we've never been before! £250 budget for both of us!
Take gas and electric meter readings and submit to BG for nectar points
Read Martin's e-mail
Check tax code when I get to work off the back of this info
Adpoints
Enter some travel comps
Work tonight 5pm-3am... There should definitely be some OT on the tail end of tonight's shift!
Take grub to work
No Spend Day (apart from budgeted holiday and dad's present)
Exercise - probably gym before work today
Download free Nike+ app that monitors movement throughout the day and works out activity levels.
Think that's about it for today lovelies - hope you all have fantastic days, wherever you are!!
Lots of Love,

Thanks for starting the thread Determined New MS
Well today is pay day finally :j
My car insurance is due for renewal so I have shopped around and renewed for a whopping £700 cheaper than I paid last year!!!!! I am still in shock. I think it's partly because I've had my licence for over a year now, whereas before I was a new driver with no no-claims bonus. I've slightly extended my overdraft to pay for the new amount in one go, meaning I won't be shelling out nearly £100 a month on car insurance payments, although I'll have to pay off overdraft for slightly longer.
Today:
- Day off work on leave which is nice!
- Checked bank. Put away holiday money for October (this will be paid next month). Bought 6 months car tax
- Quick trip to Wi***s to stock up on household cleaning/ beauty stuff. Made conscious effort to change down from branded to own brand stuff
- Had a code for a free coffee via my mobile company (although managed to spill half of it down my front!!)
- Updated DFW signature
- Hoovering and bathroom cleaning to do
- Bit of work on the dreaded dissertation
- Surveys still to check
- Free postcode lottery still to check
- Online shopping to order - hope I can control my spend this way plus I have a £15 off £60 order voucher :T
- Martin's email to read

Hello all, Happy Friday :j
Very quick as am snowed under at work. Today I have/will:
- walk dogs before and after work
- have breakfast at home and bring packed lunch
- free coffee at breaktime
- put laundry in using just half a cap of softener (plenty and bottle lasts twice as long. Posting here makes me realise just how many little things I do routinely)
- freezer surprise for tea - let's see what I can find lurking in there that needs eating
- do the food plan and shopping list (didn't do it yesterday, feeling uninspired)
That's enough for one day (for me anyway
)
Best wishes all x0 -
Today I have/will:
1. Checked online banking
2. Bought Only Men Aloud tickets (not dfw but its a christmas tradition for me and my mum)
3. Surveys
4. Nectar Adpoints
5. Meals from stores
6. Waitrose free latte while in CardiffTesco: £1361.19, Vanquis: £2644.73, Very: £563.08, Next: £1636.95, M&S: £1049.92. As of 5th February 2024. Slava Ukraini0 -
A few small things today:
*Did grocery shopping on budget. Shopped around, inc local market for fruit & veg.
*Spent less than I thought on toiletries due to some great offers in Superdrug (2 handwashes & a deodorant each for me & Mr f = less than £3).
*Did not need any work done at the dentist so just 2 check-ups to pay for (£36).
*Did NOT squander money on chocolate to reward myself for being good at the dentist!
*Free parking at the university where we go to the dentist as they were holding an 'Open Day'.
*Tended veggie garden.
*Knit ( jumper for nephew)
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0
