Eon taken money after 10 Months
Options
Hello
Eon today have taken £510 from my bank account.
I moved from them in October at which point I was told I'd receive a final bill but never heard anything.
Today they have taken £510 from my bank account without any warning. I didn't even realise the DD was still in place.
Can anyone give me some advice for when I call them. What are my rights exactly.
Thanks
Marcus

You can contact your bank, and invoke the DD guarantee which will ensure all monies are returned to you.
Bear in mind just because the bill is 8 months late, you'll still have to pay it (assuming it's based on real readings and accurate).0 -

Can't you see amend and/or cancel DD with your bank online? May be time to check any others if so.0 -
So I contacted eOn. They told me to contact my bank for a refund under the dd guarantee which I've done. The will them set up a repayment plan for me.
The reason for the !!!! up was that my new supplier, NPower, have only just sent the final meter readings through to them 9 months after the transfer.0 -
It won't be long before they have to rename this forum to the "N-power problems forum". Every other post is about N-Power messing things up.0

Hi mda1974
Glad it looks like something has been sorted out for you. Thought I'd pop on and let you know what happens with a change of supplier.
It's the responsibility of the new supplier to let the old supplier know the meter readings they intend to use to open their account. The old supplier uses the same readings to close their account and send a final bill. This makes sure you're only charged once for the same energy.
As it took your new supplier longer than usual to send the readings, the final bill will have been delayed.
Where customers pay by Direct Debit, the final charges are automatically collected through this arrangement.
Hope this is of interest and pleased a plan has been put in place for you.

The real question for the OP is why did he switch TO NPower when everyone else is going the other way.0
