Robot vac XR Advanced

Hi, I have been given a XR Advanced Robot Vacuum, it is 18 months old and hardly used, it is still in the box with all the bits & bobs except the instructions.
I put it on charge all last night but it did not work at all, I have put the new batteries and it worked, but now I have put it back on charge there are no lights to tell me that it is actually charging.
Has anyone got one of these and can help me, or know where I could get instructions for it, I am wondering if there was nothing wrong with the first batteries and perhaps I am not charging it correctly. When I plug it in no indicator lights come on at all.
