How long for credit search to show?

Options
Hi

If I had been "credit searched", how long does it take for it to show on my profile?

I have Equifax Identity Alert (credit card benefit) which alerts me whenever a change is made or a search carried out.

I haven't received an alert for this (been a week) so I was wondering if this is normal?

Thanks

Did the search definitely take place on Equifax?

    No I can't be sure.

I know it was HSBC that carried out the search, for a mortgage.

Is there information on which credit reference agency an organisation uses?

    Thanks

I believe they use both Experian and Equifax. But they should tell you which one they used according to this on their website -

Thanks for that information. No mention of which one they were/did use at the time.

Any idea how long it should take to show?

I was thinking this Identity Alert service was to show if someone applied for credit in my name, but if it takes weeks its probably a bit late then!

Often appears within the day. Rarely might take a few days.
Never heard of one taking weeks.

Might be worth actually checking your report in case there is an issue with the alert.
Would it have been a full credit application search not a quotation search? and does the alert alert you for all searches or only credit applications?

Or as suggested checking the other credit reference agencies.

As far as I know it was a full credit search, we were told other lenders would be able to see it.

The alert triggers on all searches as far as I know, for example it highlighted a search for an insurance quotation (?) and an authentication check recently.

Turns out Experian was searched, thanks for all the responses.
