Redundancy - Score method and (lack of) appraisals

Hi everyone!

New here and hoping someone can help!

I work in the animal care industry, and have worked at the same place for the last 15 years. Our company has recently been taken over by a large corporate, who have decided to make one of us redundant (out of a pool of 6 employee's).
They are using the Score system to decide.

In the 15yrs I have worked there, the company have only ever done 1 appraisal, and that was about 10 yrs ago!

So I guess my question is, is the Score system fair/legal, if we have never been given the chance/ advice to improve any aspects of our work, that might require improvement?

Hope this makes sense, and some wise and wonderful person can help?

It's a very common way to do it. I suggest you read up on scoring matrix's etc
