Oh Egoode that's terrible!!!! I don't know how you're still sane!!! Don't think I would be by now!! When has your exchange been moved to?
The vendor I'm buying off is driving me mad, he lives alone in the house, yet his wife and daughter (neither live with him) are the one's dealing with the sale and purchase!! No wonder it's like Chinese whispers when it's going through three different people!!!
His wife emailed the estate agents and said she didn't know why "suddenly there is a very near date"
I felt like going back to her and saying it's always been end of July since I got the mortgage offer, you were made aware of this back in Jan and I've been reminding the estate agent monthly of this fact, the end of July hasn't moved it's where it's always been and if you lot weren't dragging your feet the entire time you might be more prepared!! Luckily the estate agent has already got back to her explaining it's not sudden!!!

I'm not sure I'm still sane especially hanging in for so long but now I really have no choice as prices have risen so much in London I'm not sure I can afford anything else anymore. I also don't want to move again as I moved into the flat 9 months ago renting it while we sorted the purchase out.
I don't have a new date yet. The new issue is a chimney breast that was apparently removed when the council owned it as a council flat. However they are trying to say the current owner removed it without permission and needs to be checked before they will go ahead with selling the loft space to the current vendor as he converted it without permission when he bought the flat. Unfortunately for me because the loft space transaction is linked to mine the council have full control over the timelines and they are in no hurry.
I've just got off the phone with the council to try and set up an appointment for them to view the chimney stack and check it's supported to be told it's not a priority to them and they don't know when they will be able to inspect it

Well yet another issue has arisen at the last minute to delay the exchange and completion which was meant to happen today. I really think I'm cursed when it comes to buying a place as I tried years ago only for it not to happen due to various things happening at the time.
This time though the delay is due to something I initially raised in May last year and was told there was no need to worry about it. So I'm not very happy it's suddenly become an issue when it could have been sorted at the same time as they were sorting out the loft issues.
I also realised the other day i completely miscalculated how long it's taken and it's actually been 16 months and 2 weeks as of today.
Oh wow I hope you get moved in soon.. We have now been waiting 8 months and were promised to exchange two weeks ago and another problem popped up out of nowhere. So now we are SO close and it feels like it is taking even longer!!! Time is going backwards I am sure!0 -

Well I'm actually living in the place now I've been renting it for the last 10 months. In some ways that makes it more frustrating as I want to change some things and paint some walls but can't yet as it's not mine.
Really hope you manage to exchange soon and it doesn't take as long as mine has!Starting Mortgage Balance: £264,800 (8th Aug 2014)
