Hi,

I'm going to Spain in a week, i need to use data 24/7, i'll be using a mifi. I need a lot of data or unlimited, for use in a mifi for the best price. Can anyone help? Or suggest something else to do?

Thanks

It's not roaming as I guess unlimited roaming will cost you a fortune.
  • Spain is a bit 3rd world when it comes to the internet... Most home and small business users struggle to find providers with better than 2 or 3 Mb/s. Mobile data doesn't fare much better with quite steep prices compared to some networks in the UK. There are some adverts in the Costa Blanca's The Courier Click on "the latest edition" to read the paper, it comes out every Friday.

Carrefour in Torrevieja have an "in store" Orange outlet that had some good deals, similar to the ones mentioned in Grumbler's link.

Beware that your MiFi might be regarded as "tethering" which some of the deals do not include.

There is free WiFi in many small bars and some shopping centres, although the data speed at the Habaneras shopping centre in Torrevieja was very slow... If all you need is to check email and have a Skype chat, a small cafe's WiFi is pretty good for the cost of a coffee...

I've used Carrefour (SIM only - intended for dongle)

    Lyca Spain

    also Lebara Spain

The first two worked fine with my MiFi the third wouldn't play.

The last two were widely available in small Internet cafes and similar in resort, Carrefour required a proper hypermarket and then their stall in the phone shop. If you want to buy the Carrefour SIM (in some ways the best offer) take a printout of their website and show it to the person in the phone shop.

For any SIM you need a passport.
