What is reasonable under SOGA?

Hi Guys, I have an 18 month old Candy washer/dryer which had jammed shut, I phoned Candy and was given 2 options, one off £119 fix or £13.99 per month. I took option 2 as my newborns clothes were inside and needed open asap. Should a machine costing now over £600 break with moderate 2 adult use in this time? seems unreasonable to me. Candy keep fobbing my e mails off, should i go to candy or kitchen showroom? any advice greatly appreciated, ..Many thanks

Your rights are with the retailer who sold it to you. Or did you buy direct from the manufacturer?
Also, as its been more than 6 months from purchase, you may need to obtain an independent report stating the fault is inherent and has not been caused by natural wear & tear or misuse.
Always best to approach the retailer first and see what they say, some will have a look at it themselves with no fuss where others will only do so once a report (as above) has been provided. You keep using that word. Thanks, any ideas on how much a report may cost?0

That would depend where you got it from. Call some of the local appliance repair shops around you and they should be able to tell you how much they would charge for such a report. The cost of the report should be refunded if the report finds in your favour.
But remember and speak to the retailer first in case they are willing to look at it themselves without the need for a report. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
