My phone is water resistant. Shall I take it in the shower with me for a wash?
How did people cope before these 'water resistant' phones? How on earth did we keep our phones from being festering bacteria heaps.
The water resistant phones are so you can use them i 'watery' environments, such as swimming pools, beach, without too much worry they will break. Not to clean them under the tap :S0 -
I like to put mine in the dishwasher on a 20 minute cycle.0

Although some people insist these terms mean something and are different in reality there is no legal definition of either and they are often used in place of each other.Retrogamer wrote: »No, it was advertised as water resistant, not waterproof.
The thing that is defined is it's IP57 rating:

The pressure from moving it under a tap would be negligible compared to the pressure at 1m depth.Retrogamer wrote: »The key part is, when this happens it doesn't mean you can move it around under 1 meter. If you do that, then the pressure from moving it may cause the seals to fail
According to the IP tests IPX7 is more severe than IPX6 which is poerfull water jets (more powerfull than a tap.
In practice it is often vital to wash this sort of electronics under a tap to ensure it continues to work if they ever come into contact with dirty water, especially sea water.0 -
Sounds a bit like buying a crash helmet then banging your head frequently against a wall, assuming that the protection will persist regardless!0

I have an S4 active that advertises similar claims. I'd never dream of sticking it under a tap for a wash.
I find spectacle wipes the best thing for cleaning electronics.0 -
