Are X-O.co.uk ok ?

Hi,

Just noticed the XO ISA (no ongoing fee, only a charge on closure...) and SIPP (flat £95/yr, I assume deducted from fund?) both look surprisingly good value, and the dealing fee doesn't look too sloppy either.

Anyone used them, are they ok or is there anything to watch out for?

I use them. The website is very basic. You can trade shares, ETFs and ITs. I don't think they do funds.

    They respond quickly to emails

They are cheap. "You get what you pay for"

I have used them for the past couple of years for shares and corporate bonds. I have been very happy with them, though they don't do funds.

That's great, not too bothered about funds (I've got another pension for that...) - as long as you can trade in nigh-on real time, there's nothing suspect and there's no bad experiences, I'll dip my toes in gently with an ISA (don't currently hold...) and look at the SIPP down the line if it all looks good.

    Cheers gents.

If you want funds remember Investment Trusts count as shares so you can buy them with XO.

Used them to sell shares to fund ISAs a few times. No problems. Basic service at a very competitive price.

Another satisfied customer here. I joined x-o about a year ago, my first online account although I have held certificated shares for many years. I have about £200k in x-o and am planning to increase it, (mostly Vanguard ETFs) but the underlying company (Jarvis Investment Management plc) is respectable and sound as far as I know. I wondered how these online platforms can maintain accounts free of charge, but then when I saw how easy and tempting it is to trade I found myself trading more than I thought I would, and I guess thats how they make their money. I have used Jarvis indirectly before since they manage the certificated sharedealing schemes for Building Societies. I have always found them easy to deal with, efficient, and they answer emails promptly (but only during normal office hours) :)

Been with X-0 for 15 months now. Dealing with Liberty SIPP has been a real pleasure. As I've transferred in a number of other pensions. You actually deal with real people! Once you have someones contact details they remain your primary contact. Chasing up and following through on transfers on your behalf.

Website is basic but functional. Just how I like them! As I all I need it for is to trade. Also have an ISA and trading account.

X-O email details of new listings. TSB. Merlin, Royal Mail, Saga. So possible to participate through any of the portals. Also handled Verizon share stake very well.

Also you can own part of the Company as well. Which is the way I originally came across X-O myself originally when I came across an article on Jarvis Securities . Bought several tranches now. Since first purchase in April 2013. Have average gain of 30% on the holding.

    So all round very satisfied.

I've been with XO for about 2 years, I held Royal Mail through them. I currently hold Merlin Entertainment MERL and Diverse Income Trust DIVI

Have received dividends on time, can take part in share placings, IPO's no problem.

Service wise they answer the phone promptly and are friendly and english (no foreign call centers)

The only weakness is the website is pretty basic. I wouldn't use their functions for analysis etc but then the service is so cheap and reliable....

    so overall I recommend :)

    Opps

I transferred my ISA into X-o's ISA platform only to find that no unit trust trades is possible. I've tended to have most of my ISA in units. I should have read this thread 1st.

X-o said they could swap me to their ShareDeal Active ISA to trade in units & shares; Charge £60pa & £9.50 per trade. Seems it's the same basic Jarvis dealing site in a different wrapper. (X-o £0pa, £6 trade, £50 to leave).

www.x-o.co.uk gets 11.2 million google responses
www.sharedealactive.co.uk : gets a pitiful 76 google responses (an online business with less responces than my neighbour's stayathome pet gerbil)

I worry how an online service's address (started in 2003) managed to become so invisible.

Has anyone any experience of sharedealactive or advice about them?
