Conveyancing delays?

Not sure how usual it is for conveyancing to take quite some time - our buyers are keen to move fast & all paperwork is in order, mortgage arranged etc. Our purchase is less straightforward but our conveyance seems to be taking 4 - 5 days from when we answer a question that our seller asks to send this on to his solicitor. It would be SO much faster to just contact the seller's solicitor myself & answer all the questions, but is there a reason why I shouldn't do this (other than annoying our conveyance)?
We were aiming for a mid-July move, does this still sound at all feasible? Are these kinds of delays normal or should I be putting some pressure on the conveyance to speed things up Mid-July (in fact early July ideal, mid-July at the latest) has always been our target move date on both sides.

Use a solicitor in your high street. Cut out postal delays.

Yes. Solicitors are professionally barred from contact with the other side's clients.

You can also ask the sellers, either directly or via an estate agent, to respond (if they are the hold-up) or to put pressure on their solicitor.0
