So I am getting a divorce.
I only work 25 hours a week right now and have 2 children
I have been accepted for tax credits, never had them before.
I wont get house benefit but am getting a small amount of help with c tax.
I have heard some people say if you are on benefits you cant have anyone stay at your house, is this true?I some times have friends stay over do I have to stop this?

You can have people stay over within reason, but if you had, say, a gentleman stay over for 5 nights a week, it could be considered that he was living there, hence changing your benefit position0

Depends on the finer details - they don't just look at number of nights there, it could be if there is a regular pattern, if he buys food for the house, contributes towards bills etc.MFW

Of course u can have guests. I have people stay over but they are visitors who I can prove have their own accommodation and pay their own council tax bill.
As said before its to prevent people abusing the situation.0 -

Not definately, but it could contribute to that sort of decision made against you
Probably best to check with your local authority?0 -
I think it basically comes down to, do they have their own home?
I stayed over sometimes 6 times a week with my ex partner. But I had a home where I paid rent, bills and council tax. It didn't affect her claim at all.0 -

Of course you can have visitors!
If you get into another relationship and start sharing your life so that he is contributing to your house, it wouldn't matter whether he never stayed the night.0
