Noyou'd be surprised how useful an optical drive is, personally would not have a desktop without a dvd drive in it..... you'll suddenly miss it if you don't have one...
I'd rather get this and stick Win7 on it:-

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

You can add an optical drive for around £15 though.
Seems a decent enough spec for the money if the OP is not planning on doing anything too intensive.0 -

Is the A8 processor better than the i3 [on the machine linked to earlier]?
No DVD is not a deal breaker as I have a portable one.0 -

What do you think is too intensive? Thanks.0 -
Don't know / don't care / what's a bargain?I found this:
The Good The new AMD A8-3850 desktop chip offers strong budget gaming and multicore performance at a reasonable price.
The Bad AMD's new chip doesn't outperform its Intel equivalent on many standard programs.
The Bottom Line We recommend the AMD A8-3850 to mainstream desktop PC users in search of capable gaming power and multithreaded application performance.0 -
The processor is good. Motherboard is unknown, so you may have to seek out future BIOS updates by yourself. They appear to use laptop hard drives at times in order to keep costs down. Windows 8.1 with BING is being given away these days. helping to keep the cost of these PCs down and to encourage PC sales.0 -

The machine to which he has linked has the - AMD A8-5600K.
Nevertheless, you can add an inexpensive Graphics card to the machine within your first post if you want to improve the Graphics, so it's not a 'deal breaker'.
In short, the machine is ok for general usage.0 -

Forget about it, the Intel processor is better and gives you better options for upgrading.0
