Contact by reclaim company after contacting bank direct - how!?

Options
Hello everyone,

I sent a letter to Northern Rock very recently, asking them for details on the loan I had with them a few years back. I have just this morning received a letter from i-Smart to say that, as agreed, they are handling my claim for me and that, should I receive contact from Northern Rock, I need to simply inform them that i-Smart are looking after this.

I did receive a second email from them, to say 'We have identified a system error please disregard the previous communication you received', but how would they know I had contacted Northern Rock directly?

Apologies if this is common knowledge and already discussed, but are the banks / loan companies pushing direct claims through to other companies now?! Surely that's not allowed if they are and this is creating a major conflict of interest with the third party reclaim companies?!

No, it's likely just a coincidence. Have you made other enquiries with iSmart in the past?

It could be coincidence. It could be a dodgy staff member selling info.

no. it is the complete opposite. Claims companies are viewed as parasites preying on people with lies and doing very little for the chunk of money they take.

This is exactly what I thought! Just VERY strange that the company contact me days after I've contacted Northern Rock. That seems a bit too much of a coincidence to me!?

Not sure if it is worth informing Northern Rock (or whatever the new name is now)?

I would do. They can start an investigation into it. Indeed, it may help them identify a trend that has affected others.
