jd williams added an account to experian even when i was declined for credit?

Options
Just had an alert from experian about a new account being added by JD Williams, I applied on 19th June 2014 and I recieved an email a few days later to say I had been declined, and then today Ive check my report and they have added account information e.g start date 19/6/2014 and credit limit of £125. I have check the JD Williams account online to see if they had actually given me an account but no its still just a cash account. I called JD Williams and the guy on the phone thought i was stupid! he was explaining about the credit search being on there and he couldnt take it off, he couldnt understand that i ment that account info had been added without my consent! I have just now raised this with experian aswell and ive got a feeling this is gonna take ages to get rid off!

my report was just starting to look alot better and then bam! new account added which brought my score down!

Seems unusual to complain that a new account has been added to your file when you applied for the account knowingly and wanted it - it's not like it just appeared all by itself...

Although if the account isn't actually active, then yes you are perfectly within your rights to now ask for it to be removed.

Hopefully it should be fairly easy to resolve and get removed.

That said I wouldn't worry about the new account bringing your score down. Any potential lender is unlikely to make a different decision due to the existence of a new credit account with a limit of £125.
