housing benefit

Hi


This is all very new to me... recently split from long term partner.. now single with 2 young children


I have applied for housing benefit do i need to submit my documents or await a letter from them before a decision is made as i have tried to call all week.. bit tired of being 10th in the que and being on hold for over an hour a time...

  • When I did similar for coun tax on line - it told me to wait for their envelope. I did & then sent in all proof needed. All returned to me a week later.

    ah great thank you, I wasn't sure if to email them all over but I have no ref number etc and didn't want them to get mixed up and delay the process.
    I will await the letter its been around 9 days since I applied so hopefully should be here soon.

    If you did then at the end it gives a check list of what information you need to send them.

    Personally I would take the documents to them then they can update their records straight away. Our council then photocopies them. You need to get a receipt showing which documents they have seen. Also note down the date/person you spoke to and keep the receipt somewhere safe. This is your proof that you presented the documents in the correct time.

    its a different council however very similar format yes im thinking your right I may need to head to one of the offices with the list of documents passport, ni card, a recent household bill etc...


    I may just do that.

    when i applied i just scanned and emailed my documents

    my council accepted these
