Is it worth going to the Farnborough Air Show?

Options
I have never been to the Farnborough Air Show, so I thought I may try this year. However, the tickets are very expensive, especially when you want to buy tickets for the whole family (4 adults).

Does anyone have an experience with this show? Is it worth spending your money on it?

My sincere thanks,

Wow, those are expensive. I'd be searching for promotions!!

Never been to it but have been invited to it by new friends who go every year and love it. He is a bit geeky and into all aspects of design and engineering so I think thats the appeal of it is getting to see all the new technologies etc.

If you know where to go there are free places to watch. You cannot park anywhere near though so be prepared to walk.

Caesar Camp is one place to watch from, a large hill overlooking the runway, its a military training site, so don't pick up anything unusual looking!

The other is to walk along the Basingstoke canal. These free places obv don't have toilets, and get very busy, people seem to set up in the morning for the whole day. There is an ice cream van that sets up on a bride near there and sells water etc. Some take gazebos, but you will need chairs, as the ground can be really muddy.

They have changed the ticketing structure, but it is worth the cost if you want to be completely air side. However last show we went to Caesers Camp, and after the show and most people departing the planes that were headed for other places took off very very low level, the children were amazed when the pilots were waving to them!

We are paying for posh tickets as a gift this year.

I was at the Farnborough site yesterday, certainly looks busy with construction of buildings. UK flight of the F35 should be good

    Fairford is RIAT?

XH558 is not flying at RIAT this year, which is a huge shame. Lots of people just go to see her!
