in Credit cards
Hi lovely forum people...
I am currently planning an ATW trip leaving in Jan 15, I'm thinking that I will need to book my flight soon however I'm not going to have the cash for another 6-8 weeks. I paid off my last CC card 10 days ago.
I've been looking at getting a cash back card as I'm thinking on £1000 of flights I might as well get a small amount back, however none of them really give an interest free period.
So can I... book my flights on a cash back card and then do a balance transfer to another card?? (Thats if I'm accepted for 2 cards :rotfl:)
Thanks

Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada

Yes - assuming you're accepted for both cards, no problem.
However .... will the cashback be worth more than the balance transfer fee ? If not, then it's not worth doing.0 -
Thanks Ebe Scrooge, I had completely forgotten about the fee I knew I was too good of a plan for me!!! lolThanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. I'm not saying it's not a good idea - you just need to do the sums carefully to see if it'll be worth your while

The other thing to think about - you say you'll have the cash in 6 - 8 weeks ? Is it worth buying the tickets, getting the cashback, pay the minimum payemnt to the card on the first statement, then paying it off in full the next month ? Obviously you'll pay interest for the first month, but again, it may be worth it overall ?0 -
As has already been said, the fee for BTing will almost certainly outweigh any cashback benefit. I would just try and apply for a 0% card.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0
