Poor Credit File

I'm looking at getting a 0% purchases card to fund some travelling next year, so I've been having a look at my credit files.
I'm trying to work out why my credit rating/file is "poor", I know the number generated is relatively meaningless, but the impression I get from the score and checking the credit card eligibility checker on here, that my credit file is really poor.
However I can't fathom why that would be. No missed payments, no defaults, no CCJs, pay credit card off in full/nearly full each month etc. Nothing that looks bad to me.
I haven't had a massive history of taking out loans. About 4 years ago I had an interest free credit thing with Jessops which all got paid
The only things that might be an issue are:
-Some credit card cash advances in 2012 (I was abroad, and didn't realise I was doing something "bad")
-Electoral register, I'm a recent student, so I've been registered at my parents
-My bank account is a "student account", soon to be going onto the graduate account
I've recently been offered a mortgage, so it can't be that bad surely? I'm just worried that the eligibility checker on MSE is basically saying I can only get one of the credit cards with around 40% APR!

Electoral role is probably the main thing, plus a slightly limited history.
But as you know, the score is irrelevant.0 -
The eligibility checker on MSE is based on a search of your callcredit (noddle) credit file.
Have you checked that file and do some of your current/past accounts show on it?
Does it show you as being on the E/r but at a different address to your current address? or does it not show you on the e/r at all?
Are you still a student? or are you now employed/earning?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

All my bank account show. Everything seems to be right. According to Noddle I'm on the electoral roll at my current address, but only from February this year, even though I registered with the council last year. Are you still a student? or are you now employed/earning?
Both! I'm a PhD student writing up, after a full time course, but I have a proper full time job now, which I have had for 10 months.0 -
It takes time for you to be registered at an address hence the delay from when you registered at the address and when its changed.0

I've just realised that I have two other current accounts with different banks, both are slightly in credit (couple of £s), however they are under my old address.
Do these incorrectly addressed current accounts cause an issue?0
